**Shadow Swipe** inflicts damage. If the target is holding a Berry, the user will eat the Berry and gain its effect. **Shadow Swipe** will not eat the target's Berry if it hits its [[https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Substitute_(move) | Substitute]]. **Shadow Swipe** will not consume the Berry of a target that has the Ability [[https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Sticky_Hold_(Ability)|Sticky Hold]].

Berries like Liechi or Sitrus Berries will be eaten by the attacker, regardless of them meeting their consumption requirement upon taking damage from **Shadow Swipe**.
